Michael Roe Jr.
Kingdom Sports Center
Sports Director
Michael Roe Jr. serves as the Sports Director at Kingdom Sports Center. He is responsible for the entire sports operation. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Cedarville UnIversity in Sports Business. He had the opportunity to play baseball for 4 years at Cedarville and NKU. In his junior of high school he signed a full ride scholarship letter of intent to play baseball at NKU. After his senior year, and missing the MLB draft by only a few selections, he decided to concentrate on other interest. Michael describes his father as being a mentor when he was growing up. He stated that his father has shown him how to become successful, with baseball as well as business.
Michael took on the responsibility as Sports Director in August of last year. He stated, his work has taught him that no matter what you do; your life is subject to criticism. He was an athlete a very high level, ' that has taught him just that."
Michael stated one thing he wants to accomplish as Sports Director is to have multiple sellouts for their tournaments. He has the opportunity to deal with over a million people with close 3,000 teams alone throughout the year. He plans sports events for basketball, lacrosse and soccer. He stated that is difficult to please everyone but his maiin goal is to be organized and to give them the best possible experience that he can, not matter what.
Michael is very ambitious and wants to improve the overall experience people have at KSC. He stressed that center should offer "family entertainment". One success story for Michael just recently, was the Play for Pink- AAU Tournament, 83 teams participated and he had to turn away 17 teams. This was a record for the organization because in the past only 72 teams participated. He decided that it would be beneficial to start the tournament on Thursday instead of Friday.
In my observation of Michael, he is very motivated and talented. He has excellent interpersonal communication skills. I know that I will hear about positive things happening in future as long as he is the Sports Director.
Upcoming basketball tournaments include The Pirate Classic and Rumble.
